I’ll admit that I am NOT the first person to do this, but when I was asked to do it, I had a blast. I have found that over the years of custom painting that I really enjoy painting eyes now. I figured that I could detail it out a little here for you. Basically, for this project I started off with the DCUC Creeper head. I hollowed it out a bit to fit on the new Marvel Legends’ Carnage. I covered the head in a 75/25 mix of Citadel’s Tallarn flesh (cadian fleshtone) with a drop of Elf Flesh (Kislev Flesh). You’ll notice that each paint has two names… this is due to the annoying fact that Citadel changed the names of ALL of their paints… so either will work. It just depends on how up to date your store is. Alright, next I start on the eyes. I use very VERY small brushes and lit magnifying lamp to do eye. This is a preference of mine, but I like to start by blacking out the sockets. This will give it a nice depth and give the illusion of the sclera of an eye. Next we complete the sclera with a white (you can use glossy, but I prefer matte). We then go in and make a large black circle in the center of the eye to make the outer cornea. Next you fill that with the color of your choosing to make the iris. You’ll notice that I left a very thin black line around the edge. If you don’t, your eye will come out looking very cartoonish. Next, we put a smaller black dot to make our pupil and then finish it off with a very VERY small white dot to add a realistic “gleam” in the eyes. Make sure your “gleam” is on the exact same side of both eyes. If you try to mirror it, you will end up with a cross-eyed or wall-eyed figure. For the mouth I painted all of the teeth black and dry-brushed a matte white on top. The hair and eyebrows are a mix of Blazing Orange (Troll Slayer Orange) and Scab Red (Khorne Red). We finish off Cletus with a nice matte sealant and voila! Carnage can be…normal…er…something. Take care and I hope you learned something!
